Today, Alan Pumfrey, the Chairman of Banchory Men’s Shed has very gratefully received a cheque for £2000 from Mike Sibson, the Chairman of Banchory Round Table.  This will be used toward construction of Phase 1 of the Mens’ Shed at The Legion in Ramsey Road (see here).

This is a fantastic gesture from the Banchory Round and it is very much appreciated by the “Shedders” Community.  This generous donation will help us move our initial plans forward to develop a ‘Shed’ in Banchory.

The BMS has achieved much in its first year due to the drive and dedication of its inaugural members however, we still have a long way to go before we have sufficient funds available to create a ‘Shed’ for the benefit of our community.

Whilst the local community has been generous in its support so far we still urgently require more funding to fulfil our goal and every little does indeed help.

A working group from the Banchory Men’s Shed attended the ‘old’ Mearns Academy in Laurencekirk back on the 11th of April 2016 to carry out a removal exercise of plant and equipment not needed by them and so kindly donated by their Governing Authority to the Banchory Men’s Shed. This equipment goes a long way to providing much of the “traditional” equipment often found in Men’s Sheds around the world.  (All we need now is a Shed!)

The exercise took three days and the pictures below show the “haul” from just one of the days.

The removed equipment is being relocated to our ‘home’ at the Banchory Legion Scotland premises in Ramsay Road where it will be stored until we receive sufficient grant funding to enable the premises to be converted as per the plan.

Sheryl from Chalmers Bakery hands over the latest Banchory & District Men’s Shed fund raising charity tin to Alan Kelman from the “Shed”. This raised £36.36 which will go towards the building of the “Shed” at the Legion in Ramsay Road.
